The National Check Professional (NCP) accreditation program is intended, in part, to recognize an elevated level of payments acumen among payments professionals. The program is administered through ECCHO (The Electronic Clearing House). Study and exam materials cover all aspects related to rules and regulations, processing via paper and image, product development, exceptions as well as fraud and risk mitigation.

It is recommended that NCP candidates have 2+ years experience in the financial services industry and a desire to gain expertise in the field of check. Supportive experience includes check or image operations, treasury, product, ACH, fraud and/or risk.

A National Check Professional (NCP) designation recognizes professionals who have successfully proven an expert level of understanding of the current check payments landscape. This sets you apart by:

The NCP exam consists of 120 multiple choice questions. Twenty of those questions are pilot questions, meaning they won't be scored. You are allowed three hours to complete the exam. The topics included on the exam are:

• Rules, Laws and Regulations
• Fraud, Risk Mitigation
• Check Products
• Operations

Candidates must register for the exam. This can be done directly with ECCHO or through WesPay when registering for the NCP Exam Preparation Program. ECCHO partners with PSI to use its computer-based testing facilities around the county, providing for plenty of freedom in choosing the exam time and locale. After registration with ECCHO, candidates receive instructions on how to select their proctor and exam date, time and location.
